The Family Behind Jaemor Farms
There are farms, and then there are places like Jaemor Farms, where history, family, and fresh produce come together to create a north Georgia experience that has lasted for generations. For more than 100 years, the Echols family has invited visitors to slow down, enjoy the harvest, and experience life on the farm.
Jaemor Farms began as a small orchard and roadside stand but has grown into a destination where families, travelers, and the community can enjoy fresh produce, baked goods, and an authentic farm experience.
A Family Legacy Begins: The Early Days of Echols Orchards
The story of Jaemor Farms begins in 1912 when the family farm was known as Echols Orchards. In those early days, the Echols family planted peach trees and row crops on land that would eventually become one of the most treasured farms in north Georgia.
The farm focused on growing peaches and other fruits and vegetables to sell at a small roadside stand on Old Cornelia Highway. The Echols family worked together to care for the land and harvest the crops. This sense of family and community helped establish a reputation for high-quality produce in the region.
A New Chapter: The Birth of Jaemor Farms
In 1981, with the construction of Interstate 985 and Georgia Highway 365, the Echols family saw an opportunity to expand their farm. They built a new market directly on the farm and renamed it J.A.E.M.O.R. Farms, combining the initials of third-generation owners Jimmy Allen Echols and Valvoreth Morrison Echols.
This marked the transformation from a roadside stand into a full farm market. The new market became a place where visitors could enjoy an on-the-farm shopping experience while experiencing the legacy of a family farm.
Growing More Than Produce: The Market Today
Jaemor Farms has grown beyond fruits and vegetables to create a complete experience for visitors. Today, the market includes:
Fresh Fruits and Vegetables
While peaches remain a signature crop, Jaemor Farms now offers a variety of seasonal produce throughout the year. Visitors can find apples, strawberries, pumpkins, winter greens, sweet potatoes, and more.

The farm also hosts field trips and events that allow visitors to learn about agriculture and experience life on a working farm. These activities reinforce the Echols family’s commitment to the community and their desire to share the farm with others.
What Has Not Changed: Family Values and Hard Work
Even with its growth and success, Jaemor Farms remains deeply rooted in the values established by the Echols family. Since 1912, the family has worked the land with care and dedication, ensuring that each harvest meets the highest standards.
Six generations later, the farm continues to be guided by family members who understand the land, the work, and the importance of connecting with the community. Their commitment has made Jaemor Farms a trusted source for fresh food and a place where families can experience life on the farm.
