Cantaloupes reach peak season in mid-July, and you can tell a ripe cantaloupe by its unmistakable and distinctive smell. While Jaemor does not actually grow its own cantaloupes, we always stock freshly grown, local supplies of this melon, which tends to keep for 5-10 days after purchase. Make sure your cantaloupe is firm and not too soft – otherwise it is overripe, and the bottom of your cantaloupe should be yellow-orange, and not green. A juicy treat on summer days, cantaloupes are great for salads, salsas and, of course, desserts.
